Mission

Responsible for leading the technical performance of the IBA Proton Therapy System (PTS), maximizing system installation to the highest quality, mentor and coach team engineers, and planning the execution of preventative and corrective maintenance. The Site Technical leader (STL) is responsible for ensuring the on-site team installs the PTS in a safe and efficient manner that complies with all IBA global and regional, quality, regulatory and safety (QRS) policies and standards.

* Supervise the Proton Therapy System (PTS) installation.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment and leadership to international and local regulations, as well as all IBA Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and Code of Business Conduct.
* Lead Troubleshooting on Proton Therapy Systems including electrical, mechanical, physics, and software issues with proven methodologies.
* Schedule and coordinate resources (IBA employees and third-party vendors as needed) based on installation priorities for all maintenance of the PTS, including but not limited to equipment installation, equipment updates and upgrades, preventative and corrective maintenance.
* Clearly communicate the status of the system to the Site Manager/Project Manager as well as to IBA employees.
* Analyze technical issues through root cause analysis and provide guidance and long-term solutions.
* Communicate & escalate if required to the Site Manager on technical issues and potential project blockers.
* Ensure the site engineers maintain adequate records in accordance with all IBA, local, and medical device requirements.
* Assist Site Manager to ensure technical training and certification of field engineers and assign appropriate training plans with support of training department, as needed.
* Coach engineers on component specialties, providing the necessary training for component proficiency.
* Support the PTS in all phases, which will include but not be limited to installation, unit testing, integration testing, validation testing, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, PTS upgrades, and other various site related activities as they are defined by the Site Manager.
* Act as Site Manager when needed; supervisory duties are a requirement of the job, and training and development courses must be completed in advance on applying to this role.
* Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

What we value

* B.S. in Engineering (or other equivalent field or relevant work experience).
* Previous supervisory or team leadership experience of at least 5 people.
* Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to operate efficiently and effectively with a sense of urgency during a crisis.
* Knowledge of maintenance planning within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
* Ability to plan technical long term and short-term objectives.
* Ability to teach and train PT site engineers in a variety of PTS sub-systems.
* Deep technical knowledge of one of the subsystem of the PTS (Cyclo, Beam, Positioning system, patient positioning verification system) is a plus
* Broad integrated systems technical knowledge of:
* Proton Therapy Systems
* Electrical and Mechanical Systems, Software, Physics, Cyclotron
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, One-Note, Outlook, etc.)
* Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)


* Deep technical knowledge of one of the PTS subsystems: Cyclo, Beam, Positioning system, patient positioning verification system) is a plus

* Possess an electro-mechanical background
* RF systems
* Vacuum and pneumatic systems
* Power supplies (high voltage AC and low voltage DC)


* Experienced in the troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems
* Experienced with diagnostic equipment
* Oscilloscope
* Vector Network Analyzer (VNA)
* Multimeter
* Vacuum leak tester
