CarDon and Associates is currently hiring a Medical Records Staff. The Medical Records Staff will help nursing obtain necessary transfer information from physicians, hospitals, or other institutions. Coordinates the transfer of medical information during admission, readmission, hospital transfers, and discharge. Assembles, audits, and files records of discharged residents according to established criteria. Maintains discharged record filing system in an accessible manner for prompt retrieval of records. Thins records monthly and maintains thinned files according to prearrangement's for storage of records. Maintains indexes according to the needs of the facility. Maintains supply of clinical record forms and may be asked to create new forms. Maintains an organized medical records filing system, and protects the security of these records. Maintains and controls the removal or release of information from clinical records according to operational policies and HIPAA requirements. Maintains the disclosure logs required by the HIPAA Privacy Rule. Monitors frequency and timeliness of physician visits and notifies physician when visits are due. May help MDS Coordinator and Director of Nursing maintain the assessment and care-planning calendar. Performs focus audits of selected samples when requested. Attends training meetings and outside seminars as needed to maintain job knowledge, stay informed about medical record standards, and maintain appropriate certifications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Indiana Operator's License. Maintains good attendance and attends mandatory inservice meetings. Is able to work overtime or on weekends if needed to complete duties. Has sufficient hearing to hear the conversational voice and adequate near and far vision to complete duties
