QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Master's Degree + 30 hours
  2. Valid certificate for school psychology


REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Exceptional Children

JOB GOAL: To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by evaluating, consulting, and recommending appropriate educational programs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.
  2. Helps identify within the school all types of exceptional children.
  3. Maintains case records on all referred students.
  4. When qualified and time permits, consults with school staff about children whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavior modification.
  5. Confers with teachers and parents whenever necessary.
  6. Consults on educational needs of children who are experiencing difficulties learning.
  7. Attends placement meetings of individual students, contributing to the conference an interpretation of the psychological evaluation.
  8. Participates in on-going screening process to help identify "at-risk" students within the school.
  9. Interprets the school psychological services to teachers and parents.
  10. Cooperates with personnel of community agencies.
  11. Participates in annual SEARCH for early identification of handicapped children.
  12. Attends staff, professional, and inter-agency meetings.
  13. Assists with in-service training of school personnel.
  14. Conducts appropriate research when time permits and it is requested.
  15. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
  16. Other duties as requested.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 Day Contract. Salary and work year to be established by the district.
