Position Specific Description

Department: Texas Operations

We are seeking a Lead Landman to perform all necessary land functions over multiple non-operated and operated areas. The primary responsibility of this position will be to support the company's non-operated assets, mainly in the Barnett Shale, but also will provide support for our operated assets in South Texas. Responsibilities include handling all non-operated AFEs, updating management on all non-operated activity, leasing, as well as performing all duties required for a horizontal development program.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

* Negotiate sophisticated Oil & Gas leases, Joint Operating Agreements, Farmin/Farmout agreements, Subsurface and Surface Use agreements, and other industry agreements
* Capable of handling all land functions related to non-operated activities, including ownership calculations, AFE handling, JOA and title review, and assisting with division order and accounting.
* Capable of handling all land functions related to development activities, including title opinion review and curative, surface agreements, pooling agreements and division order support
* Proficient in lease and contract drafting; ability to interpret and administer complex contracts and agreements
* Manage multiple land brokers for leasing, abstracting and title work
* Provide project updates to management regarding non-operated AFEs, land acquisitions and development activities
* Understanding of Texas Railroad Commission rules and regulations
* Texas experience required
* Perform Due Diligence relating to acquisitions and divestitures
* Minimum of 7 years' experience of actual in-house land negotiations and operations experience.
* Develop relationships within the oil and gas industry to facilitate partnering and trade opportunities
* Ability to work independently with little direction
* Excellent verbal/written communication, organization and time management skills
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Land Manager
* RPL or CPL certification a plus
