National Membership Relaunch Coordinator VISTA

Cypress Tree New Mexico (CTNM) is an autonomous organization of independent charter school and non-profit leaders united to meet their common needs and aspirations. Our mission is to support educational innovation by deliberately and efficiently sharing our expertise and resources to improve outcomes for communities furthest from opportunity. By serving as a VISTA, you will help relaunch two exciting initiatives focused on eliminating poverty by improving educational and employment outcomes for students and adults within New Mexico and across the nation - CPICS and N4Arts. Our national charter school member organization, the Coalition of Public Independent Charter Schools (CPICS), is relaunching to connect school leaders and communities by sharing effective practices through advocacy and service. The vision of CPICS is to be a national voice for community-based public charter schools. CPICS celebrates and supports innovative, inclusive, and transparent approaches to education. Finally, CPICS connects school leaders and communities by sharing effective practices through advocacy and service. The North Fourth Arts & Workforce Training Center (N4Arts), formerly a Very Special Arts (VSA) site, will reopen to offer all-abilities classes and expand programmatic offerings for adults who are deaf and/or developmentally disabled. This initiative will connect adults with disabilities and the greater community through education and the arts - providing a purposeful existence infused with joy, creativity, and a love for learning. At N4Arts, specially designed art and theatre classes will support the greater community and also the unique needs of persons with disabilities in an effort to promote social and emotional wellness, artistic expression, and community involvement for all. Additionally, high school transition students and adults with disabilities will train toward employment though the lens of their abilities in a variety of retail and service businesses. Member Duties : VISTA members will focus on researching educational reform strategies and barriers, building responsive programmatic processes for information dissemination and discussion, and develop national partnerships for replication and implementation of research-based best practices to inform and enlist the next generation of charter school leaders. VISTA members will build partnerships and create technical guides for managing a national membership network and providing a voice for community-based public charter schools who celebrate and support innovative, inclusive, and transparent approaches to education (CPICS Initiative). VISTA members will focus on building systems to inform educational offerings, researching methods for removing barriers to achievement for adults with disabilities, and building partnerships within the local and national community to support and further educational and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities (N4Arts Initiative).
