The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) for the Brigham Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Service will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation and execution of the various tasks necessary for coordination of all clinical research studies being conducted by the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle service. The CRC for the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Service will be responsible for IRB protocol development, IRB approval maintenance, candidate screening, clinical evaluation, coordination of patient follow-up, data collection, and database maintenance (all record keeping) for all research projects managed by this group.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical:

1. Serves as principle clinical research coordinator of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Service.

2. Explain the purpose of the project in a clear and concise manner to assist with obtaining informed consent from patients interested in participating in the study.

3. Provides one-on-one counseling as necessary for Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle research patients.

4. Serves as information resource for patients and healthcare providers.

5. Follows up with patients by phone to provide support, information, and help improve compliance with patient care protocols.

Research:

1. Designs and writes Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle-related research grants in concert with the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Faculty members.

2. Coordinate all aspects of data collection, including enrolling patients and abstracting data from medical records. Monitor other study sites and multi-centered trials if part of the research methodology of a given project.

3. Coordinate human studies committee submissions and reports.

4. Coordinates all Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle-related research activities.

5. Assists with analysis of data from Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Research program.

6. Assists with research activities of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Research program including grant writing and conduction of research protocols.

7. Assists with writing research articles and other publications.

8. Work with the research team to review data and make recommendations in regard to

data collection and analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. BA/BS

2. Undergraduate research experience preferred and/or relevant course work

3. Experience with management of orthopaedic patients preferred, but experience with more general surgical patient management may also be acceptable.

4. Two-year commitment is preferred.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently while paying close attention to details.
* Must work effectively, professionally, and confidently with a variety of patients and healthcare providers; excellent interpersonal skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Ability to work as a team member
* Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet applications) and the ability to learn new computer applications
* Intellectual independence and initiative
* Interest in public health including epidemiology and/or biostatistics, health policy, and/or medicine
* Must ensure all data is stored on a shared Partners network
* This is a non-exempt position. The candidate is required to clock in and out via the UKG Time Keeping System at the start and end of each shift.
