Job Description

The Collin County Clerk is seeking candidates to fill the position of Chief Deputy Clerk. This position requires a high level of responsibility for supervisory and administrative management functions in assisting the County Clerk with the day to day operations of all departments within the County Clerk's Office.

The successful candidate must maintain a high level of knowledge regarding the statutory requirements of the County Clerk, track legislation that could impact all departments and answer inquiries regarding the County Clerk's policies and business processes. In addition, the candidate must be able to develop departmental goals and objectives and ensure they are met in a timely manner and write departmental policies and procedures.

Duties require the ability to successfully recruit and maintain qualified staff, evaluate employee performance, administer disciplinary actions and demonstrate a considerable amount of initiative and independent analytical judgment. Responsibilities include the delegation and monitoring of projects, preparation of the annual budget for all departments within the County Clerk's office, monitoring budget expenditures and various financial accounts, the compilation and analysis of statistics for producing monthly and quarterly reports and ensuring all fees are accurately maintained. Position requires travel to conferences for continuing education regarding requirements of the County Clerk. May be assigned other responsibilities, as needed. Work is performed under the direction of the County Clerk.

Requirements:

The candidate who fills this position must have the ability to read and understand legal documents and local and state codes, as well as civil procedures and statutes. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. This position is required to create positive communication with County Clerk staff as well as other county departments in addition to representing the County Clerk as needed. Position requires a broad knowledge in a professional field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or a minimum of four years of experience in upper level governmental administrative management in the duties of the office.
