SUMMARY

Primary responsibility is to provide services to patients in a competent, professional and ethical manner, in accordance with prevailing standards of medical practice. In addition, the Physician will serve in a faculty position in the Division of Digestive Diseases, Hepatology and Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Connecticut Children's Specialty Group, Inc., (CCSG). In these capacities, the Physician will allocate time to clinical activity, which encompasses ambulatory sessions and procedures, research activities and teaching/administrative activities. The Physician will provide services in accordance with the assignment, coverage and on-call schedules determined by the head of clinical service. Schedules shall be designed to assure that all of the pediatric and medical needs of patients are met in a competent, timely and responsive manner on a continuous basis, twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. Educational responsibilities include participating in medical student, resident and fellow teaching in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings while seeing patients. In-patient attending responsibility is shared equally amongst the faculty.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families.

See ambulatory gastroenterology patients at both Connecticut Children's Medical Center as well as satellite locations.

Actively work as liaison to referring providers ensuring timely phone and visit consultation for patients.

Complete and maintain, in a timely manner, adequate, legible and proper medical records with respect to all services rendered to patients.

Participate in, and comply with, all applicable policies and procedures of, including, without limitation, utilization review, billing and other requirements associated with the delivery of services under Medicare, Medicaid, other federal and state reimbursement programs, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and the payment plan of any commercial insurer, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, or other health benefit program.

Perform all services assigned in accordance with policies, procedures, rules and regulations established by Connecticut Children's.

Maintain professional expertise through active involvement in professional organizations and continuing education programs.

Demonstrate support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CCMC STANDARD.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education Required:

Experience Required: Demonstrated clinical competency with pediatric gastroenterology, related diseases, assessment, procedures and treatments, as evidence by board certification in GI and maintenance of credentials.

LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut

Board certified or board qualified in Pediatric Gastroenterology
