CarDon and Associates is now hiring an experienced CNA Trainer (RN)
Basic Function: The CNA Instructor- RN assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of education to CNA students. The CNA Instructor- RN will oversee and direct the operation of the CNA class and assure all nursing-related functions are performed within state and federal statues and meet organizational objectives. In collaboration with community Administration, allocates clinical rotation in an efficient and economic manner to enable each student to attain or maintain the highest practical clinical education. The CNA Instructor- RN performs all clinical and managerial activities with high ethical standards and in compliance with community philosophy, policies and procedures all laws applicable to licensed and certified health care communities.
Education, Qualifications, Credentials: Must be licensed in good standing with the State licensing authority as a Registered Nurse, have two years of post-acute care professional nursing experience, and a minimum of three years of experience in nursing administration or a comparable management position. Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of leadership, organizational ability, and communication skills. Knowledge of long-term care management, policies, budgeting, personnel management, and census development is required. Current CPR certification is preferred.
Special Requirements: For the CNA Instructor- RN to be a Clinical Supervisor, the CNA Instructor- RN must complete the Train the Trainer class per IDH requirements.
The CNA Instructor- RN must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position:
* Ensure minimal competency has been validated by each CNA student successfully passing the approved pretest.
* Provide, at a minimum, 30 hours of instruction in a classroom environment which consists of 32 Lessons from an approved textbook.
* Ensure each CNA student has validation of instruction which may include completion of an approved workbook, quizzes and a final or practice test.
* Provide initial instruction on all 72 RCP's to each CNA student. Validation would be obtained by signature on approved RCP ISDOH document.
* Assist and provide oversight of the coordination with each CNA student, scheduler, and community staff to obtain additional clinical hours. Clinical hours must total 75 hours and include initial instruction as well as additional hours with community staff.
* Ensure each CNA student has the required 105 hours of the total program.
* Initiate and complete program to enter each CNA student into the IVT database to receive approval to test which includes payment and skills validation.
* Make sure each CNA student receives a written test date and a skills date as applicable (some may test all together in the community they trained in, should there be enough students).
* Work with each CNA student until they have successfully passed both written and skills tests; they have three attempts.
* Work with the community HRBP to ensure each CNA student/new CNA is on the registry and paper copy is in their file.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The CNA Instructor- RN must be approved as a Clinical Supervisor for the assigned community. As the Clinical Supervisor, the CNA Instructor- RN will:
* Sign off on the hours that are met
* Will touch base with each CNA student when it is time for the student to be entered into the Ivy Tech portal
* If the class has six (6) or more students, the skills test can be conducted on site (written is always scheduled)
* If requesting for on-site skills test, the Clinical Supervisor must request immediately and fill out an official roster within 3-weeks of testing (all submitted through Ivy Tech)
* Will structure the program:
* Minimum/Maximum number of students
* Start date of program
* Length of time per day for classroom (4 hr, 6 hr, 8 hr per day) to meet the 30-hour classroom requirement plus 10-hour RCP
* Will order textbooks that follows the IDH program (these can be retained for future use) as well as the Workbook and Skill Cards
