Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

Under general supervision, provides initial assessments, consultations, crisis intervention, and short-term case management services for patients being discharged from local hospitals or from the community at large.

This position is for a Mental Health Professional assigned to the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center (CDMHC) Assessment/Mobile Crisis team, which provides emergency assessments, initial clinical assessments, and phone triage to people in the community who are experiencing suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, psychosis, or worsening mental health symptoms used for admission to outpatient care. Clinicians are taught to utilize a full array of assessment and diagnostic skills.

Our organization also provides outpatient psychiatric and nursing services, so clinicians will collaborate with medical team members to ensure all mental health needs are met. We seek compassionate individuals who are driven to provide outstanding care to those we serve. Services are provided to both adults and children.

Therapists are responsible for documenting services in a timely manner using an Electronic Medical Record system. All necessary technology will be provided.

CDMHC and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health have an unsurpassed commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. Clinical staff receive thorough training at orientation as well as opportunities for ongoing training and support, including CEUs whenever possible. Regular individual and team supervision is also provided.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

STATE: A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social services or a related field.

INT: A master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCDMH.
