Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - General Job Specialty: Staff Augmentation Job Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night 10:45 PM-6:45 AM Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Not specified License: Licensed Practical Nurse Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: Ability to work rotating schedule including weekends Job Description: - Administer nursing care within scope of practice as outlined in Ohio Revised Code sections 4723.01 to 4723.40.- Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, licensed Physician, Dentist, Podiatrist, or Optometrist.- Perform skilled practical nursing procedures and treatments such as obtaining vital statistics, applying oxygen, sterile dressing, inserting catheters, reinserting gastroscopy tubes, suctioning, wound treatments, enemas, douches, obtaining specimens, and administering Enteral feedings and medications.- Observe, document, and report patient conditions, taking appropriate actions.- Provide thorough and knowledgeable reports of patient needs to RN or Physician.- Provide patient teaching and monitor patients during and as follow-up for procedures.- Assist RN and Physician as needed.- Respond to emergencies, provide first aid, perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and use AED.- Maintain medical accountability records and prepare related reports/forms (charts, patient records, medication administration records, unusual incident forms, seizure documentation forms, and restraints logs).- Complete thorough and knowledgeable documentation and verify and implement Physician's orders.- Complete and maintain controlled drug administration/tracking records and report any inaccuracies immediately.- Maintain work assignment records, documents, and forms as needed.- Maintain supplies needed to provide an organized, appropriately stocked work area.- Communicate with the pharmacy as needed to maintain medication stocks.- Maintain assigned medical work areas by cleaning equipment, carts, cabinets, and storage areas and provide daily cleaning.- Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, filing, copying, and faxing.- Provide general nursing care and assist in providing work direction, orientation, and training to lower-level staff.- Attend medical appointments and participate in meetings as needed.- Respond to patient alarms and maintain patient supervision levels as required.- Confer with the Nursing Supervisor or Director of Nursing on nursing needs or any relevant issues.
