POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavior Specialist to join our team. The Behavior Specialist will work closely with individuals with behavioral needs, their families, and other team members to develop and implement effective behavior management and modification plans.

LOCATION AND HOURS:

* 30 hours a week


* Hours will be between 9 am and 5 pm -the schedule will depend on the sites you are at


* Monday- Friday


* Location will be split between two of the four YMCA facilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).


* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior intervention plans, adjusting as needed.


* Provide training and support to individuals, families, and staff on behavior management techniques and strategies.


* Collaborate with other professionals, such as director, counselors, and family members, to ensure a comprehensive approach to behavior support.


* Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of assessments, interventions, and progress.



ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:

* Adheres to policies related to boundaries with children.


* Attends required abuse risk management training.


* Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.


* Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.


* Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Define whether the position directly supervises employees, full-time or part-time, and approximately how many.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems and reporting observations to the COO or Branch Executive Directors. Demonstrates enthusiasm in all areas of work. Maintains frequent positive communication with staff and works cooperatively with others. Ensures all programs are properly staffed, equipped and well informed. Ensures all assigned staff complete necessary paperwork in a timely manner, monitors their payroll and adheres to human resources responsibilities.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Educational Requirements - High School Degree


* Experiential requirements 2 years' experience with children


* Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification


* Ability to approach strong behaviors with patience, empathy, and positive reinforcement, you can help promote a supportive and nurturing environment that encourages positive growth and development.


* Minimum age of 18


* Within 30 days of hire, completion of CPR/ First Aid for Professional Rescuers Certification and Behavior Modification Training


* Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
