Job Coach for the Atlantic County Special Services School District
JOB GOALS: Provide the support, supervision, and guidance needed by students participating in Structured Learning Experiences to increase the positive outcomes from the high school transition skills program. Represent ACSS in a positive way in the community by modeling excellent workplace behaviors for students participating in Structured Learning Experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent required
  2. Two years (60 credits) of college level coursework or passing score on Para-Pro Assessment required
  3. Successful completion of the Employment Specialist Foundations for Schools training program provided by ACSS and The Boggs Center required
  4. Criminal History background check required
  5. Proof of US Citizenship or legal resident alien status required
  6. Be in good physical and mental health with an establish record of good attendance required
  7. Currently under contract with Atlantic County Special Services preferred
  8. Possession of a NJ Driver' s License and a NJ Class C CDL preferred
  9. Knowledge of ADA and other employment related disability legislation preferred
  10. Demonstrated ability to understand and implement student plans for learning, work, transition and behavior
  11. Demonstrated ability to collect accurate student performance data
  12. Demonstrated ability to maintain clear and consistent records of student performance. Demonstrated ability in identifying effective supports and accommodations for students
  13. Demonstrated ability to accept direction and supervision
  14. Demonstrated ability to give constructive criticism and effective supervision
  15. Demonstrated ability to be responsible, dependable and self-reliant
  16. Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills..
  17. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with community partners on behalf of students with disabilities
  18. Demonstrated sensitivity to the nature and needs of disabled students and their families
  19. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be deemed appropriate

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Job Coach will collaborate with workplace mentors, community partners and SLE teachers to improve student job skills, social and life skills, problem solving skills and communication skills.
  • The Job Coach will be responsible for implementing student work plans and collecting data on work plan objectives.
  • The Job Coach will assist students in developing good work habits, following safety procedures and rules set by the employer, and improving workplace social skills.
  • The Job Coach will be responsible for assisting community partners with understanding and implementing ADA guidelines and improving overall disability awareness in the workplace.
  • The Job Coach will be responsible for developing their knowledge of specific jobs and the opportunities available at a community work site so as to make informed recommendations regarding good matches for students in the SLE program.
  • The Job Coach will be responsible for identifying and implementing workplace accommodations needed to increase student success.
  • The Job Coach will provide the level of support necessary for student success while always focusing on promoting student use of natural/environmental supports and independence. •
  • The Job Coach will be the on-site contact for community partners and the liaison between the SLE teacher and the community partner.
  • The Job Coach will alert the SLE Teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student or community worksite.
  • The Job Coach will maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about all aspects of a student's disability and performance including written and oral reports and all school related information.
  • The Job Coach will model excellent workplace behaviors for students participating in Structured Learning Experiences.
  • The Job Coach will participate in district provided staff development activities and attend
  • The Job Coach will follow procedures and regulations as they relate to Board policy.
  • The Job Coach will establish and maintain a consistent pattern of attendance in• accordance with Board policy.
  • The Job Coach will perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal, Vocational Coordinator and/or SLE teacher. other training sessions as necessary to continually improve their knowledge, competencies and techniques.
