Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant

Anticipated start date is August 2024. Position will receive a tuition stipend equivalent to in-state tuition and a bi- weekly paycheck. This Graduate Assistant position is a two-year appointment, renewable after the first year at the discretion of the athletic department.

Position Description
  • Serve as the primary and/or secondary media contact for multiple NCAA Division I sports.
  • Assist in all areas of publicizing the accomplishments of the athletic teams and department.
  • Assist with the gameday staffing and SID coverage for various home athletic events.
  • Provide content for the North Florida athletics website (www.unfospreys.com) and social media pages.
  • Provide assistance in creating content, managing daily operation, and scheduling of social media platforms.
  • Assist with the organization of archival information, records, photos, statistics.
  • Other duties as assigned, including various research projects and game operations.

Requirements
  • Admission to a University of North Florida graduate program (must be accepted as a graduate student to accept this position).
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, passion for working in a "team" environment, and a desire to learn.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, stay organized, keep up with a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to write a press release or game recap story.
  • Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Skills
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Experience with NCAA Live Stats and/or Stat Crew software, particularly input capabilities preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to write a press release or game recap story required, ability to write a feature story preferred.

Prerequisites Required for Position
  • Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum Work Experience: Undergraduate internship with athletics office or like-organization (minor league sports, radio, TV, social media internships etc.)
