As the Unit Secretary, you will provide secretarial and clerical support to the nursing unit to ensure the effective and efficient #operation of the nursing unit. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ### #Answers telephone on the unit in a respectful and professional manner; relays messages to appropriate parties in a timely manner. ### #Schedules appointments for procedures and tests, obtains results, and files results in patient charts. ### #Arranges for consults with physicians. ### #Prepares patient charts for admission and disassembles charts for discharge, records information according to Health Information System standards. ### #Assists in including arranging patient transport as needed, assigns room for cleaning. ### #Transports specimens to the lab. ### #Obtains supplies from internal sources such as Materials Management department. ### #Maintains a clean and secure environment to ensure efficient and safe operation of the nursing unit. ### #Functions as an active member of the health care team on the unit.
