Job Summary:

The position isin the medical clinics (not remote position) and reports directly to the supervising physician and Director of Operations and Directorof Revenue Cycle Management for all matters, including job duties, performanceevaluations, approval of leave, and other assignments as deemed necessary forthe benefit of the Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic (BROC).

Duties/Responsibilities:

In thisposition, you will play a vital role in accurately coding medical proceduresand services provided in our center. Your expertise and attention to detailwill ensure compliance with coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements.If you are passionate about orthopedic coding, possess strong analyticalskills, and have a deep understanding of medical terminology and codingsystems, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

RequiredSkills/Abilities:

  1. Review medical documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for orthopedic surgical procedures, consultations, and other related services.
  2. Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services based on medical records, operative reports, and other relevant documentation.
  3. Conduct regular audits and quality checks to maintain coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  4. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and gather additional information as needed.
  5. Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements related to orthopedic ambulatory surgical centers.
  6. Assist with coding-related inquiries and provide education and support to healthcare providers and staff.
  7. Help optimize the revenue cycle by ensuring appropriate reimbursement through accurate coding and documentation.
  8. Appeal denied claims.
  9. Research and resolve coding issues.
  10. Submit appeals of denied claims and track results.

Education andExperience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential from AAPC or equivalent certification preferred.
  3. 1 to 2 years of experience in Orthopedic Coding required.
  4. In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding systems and guidelines, specifically related to orthopedic procedures.
  5. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  6. Proficiency in using coding software, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and other related tools.
