POSITION SUMMARYExempt Non-ExemptTo provide clinical oversight, supervision, and optimization of patient care, patient flow andstaffing, and to assist in care provided for patients in all areas of hospital.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Meets qualifications of, and fulfills responsibilities of, a Registered Nurse per the positiondescriptions, Registered Nurse RN Acute Care LCH (please refer to that positiondescriptions)
2. Serves as administrative resource during off-hours and is the nursing managementdesignee, with delegated authority over all caregivers on hospital patient care units, incollaboration with appropriate manager, DNS or CNO if indicated
3. Maintains big picture view of patient care across the hospital; Manages and is thedecision maker related to staffing for current shift and upcoming shifts, based on patientcensus, patient acuity, and admission, discharge, and transfer activities; Updates 3 daystaffing plan accordingly
4. Provides in-the-moment leadership, coaching, and performance management tocaregivers, to support optimal patient care and outcomes
5. Rounds frequently in all patient care units to provide support and serve as resource asneeded, particularly with surge in patient acuity or volumes; assures caregivers aregetting meal and rest breaks appropriately and timely
6. Supports or provides patient care as needed, based on prioritization of needs
7. Serves as a clinical resource to provide support with changes in patient condition(including use of MEWS protocol)
8. Competent to monitor procedural sedation and to provide support in PACU
9. Supports a healing environment by consistently modeling LCH values and behavioralexpectations and maintaining a quiet, clean, uncluttered environment; provides coachingto other caregivers to do the same
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduate from accredited school of nursing
2. Current registration and license to practice in the State of Washington
3. BSN highly preferred
4. BLS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, PALS certifications current or obtain as soon as able (withinfirst 6 months)
5. Minimum 3 years of experience as a hospital acute care and/or ED RN required;previous house supervisor experience preferred
6. Excellent critical thinking, organizational, interpersonal relationship, and verbal andwritten communication skills
7. Must be able to provide leadership to staff, prioritize and think clearly and quickly
