Position Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist (UT) will perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program required.

Experience
  • Previous Sonography experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-S) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
  • Assist physicians with biopsy procedures.
  • Guide biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques.
  • Perform procedures including but not limited to ultrasound procedures, color doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, and Ob-Gyn procedures as required.
  • Utilize accessory equipment such as transducers, printers, and PACS workstations.
  • Prepare patients for procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients.
  • Report changes in patient condition to medical staff.
  • Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist.
  • Evaluate the quality of sonograms and determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated.
  • Assist in training of Ultrasound students during clinical rotations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with imaging colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
  • Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
  • Consistently display effective verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
  • Regularly exercise independent judgment.
