Restorative Nursing Technician performs direct and indirect restorative rehab care services to the residents' of St. Mary's Hospital for Children under the direct supervision of licensed staff. Supports Hospital's mission to provide the highest quality of care by complying with regulatory guidelines and meeting agency standards.

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides restorative care services to the residents, safely and according to prescribed orders.

2. Provides direct restorative rehab care according to written medical orders for the following

restorative rehab practices: Restorative and Habilitative Standing; Ambulation; Maintenance

PROM; Toileting; Restorative Feeding; Prone Positioning; Orthotic donning/doffing; Restorative

ADLs.

3. Collaborates with licensed Rehabilitation therapists and Nursing staff to develop restorative care plan.

4. Participates in interdisciplinary Care Plan Meetings and Unit rounds.

5. Documents all restorative care practices provided in the EMR.

6. Tracks and reports resident progress and functional status to the Nursing and Rehab Department.

7. Seeks specific instructions from licensed therapist (PT, OT, SLP) when the functions are beyond the basic restorative rehab scope and reports success/need for changes to instructing licensed therapist.

8. Will be a resource to C.N.A. staff in specific resident needs relating to Restorative Rehab program, when appropriate.

9. Completes weekly resident mandates efficiently.

10. Assists residents in the restoration and maintenance of maximal physical, psychological, and spiritual health.

11. Promotes age-appropriate independence on ADLs.

12. Engages residents in age-appropriate socialization/stimulation.

13. Reports changes in patient status to staff nurse/manager/therapist.

14. Collaborates with the disciplinary team.

15. Monitors residents' rehabilitative equipment on a weekly basis.

16. Reports all missing, broken and malfunctioning restorative equipment immediately to staff nurse/manager and therapist/Rehab Director.

17. Assists licensed Therapists with treatments as needed.

18. Conducts maintenance therapy programs and or restorative programs established by therapists and under the direct supervision of Therapists and/or Registered Nurse.

19. Actively participates in Child Passenger Safety Program.

20. Participates in Bi-weekly Car Seat fitting stations.

21. Maintains and manages all Car Seat Hotline calls.

22. Maintains daily stats and submits to Assistant Director of Nursing monthly.

23. Assists licensed Audiologist with hearing exams as needed.

Formal education required:

High School Graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of 100 hours Nurses Aide Training Program; Certified Nurses Aide by State of NY OR Child Care Technician training program at St. Mary's Hospital for Children.

Previous experience required:

1 year pediatric nursing care
