Primary Job Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Security, incumbents in this position supervise and evaluate security guard staff and is engaged in all aspects of building security including electronic monitoring, control access systems, training, security drills, NYS and federal report compliance, and investigations. Performs various duties related to the safety, health, and welfare of the students and staff while addressing the overall security needs of the school buildings. Interacts with the Director of Security, central office administration, and building Principals with regard to operating vulnerabilities, safety routines and practices, security systems and structures. The duties involve leeway for independent judgment and action within established procedures and all matters of importance are reported to the Director of Security. Does related work as required.

* ENSURING EFFECTIVE INTER/INTRA AGENCY COMMUNICATIONS;
* PREPARING WRITTEN MATERIAL;
* UNDERSTANDING AND INTERPRETTING WRITTEN MATERIAL;
* PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF SAFETY AND SECURITY
* FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS (MAPS);
* SUPERVISION;

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written examination: A) Associates Degree in criminal justice, police science or closely related field AND two years of work experience in public or private law enforcement agency that shall have included security work in a school and (1) year in a supervisory capacity OR B) Completion of a standard high school course or possession of an equivalency diploma issued by the State Education Department of New York plus 4 years' work experience in public or private law enforcement that shall have included school security and one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
Special Requirements
Candidates must be at time of examination and for at least four months prior thereto residents of The City of New Rochelle.
