When it comes to the of future nuclear projects, we have the capabilities to manage engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance, and fabrication services including project development, project management and project financing. From design and engineering to construction delivery, and project finance, we work tirelessly to make expectations a reality.

Under the general supervision of the Estimating and Proposals Manager, the Mechanical Estimator is responsible for the preparation and documentation of cost estimates and executions plan for the construction of projects. Computes costs estimates of raw materials purchased or leased equipment or subcontracted work and labor required in the bid tendering process

What You'll Do Here

* Participation and understanding of both design/build and build to spec contracts
* Interprets project drawings and specifications, analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation
* Create sketches, drawings, and specifications to meet client requirements
* Responsible for accurate take-off of quantities from project drawings and specifications
* Responsible for the preparations and documentation of project estimates following estimating policy and procedures
* Analyzes sub-trade quotations, liaison with subcontractors for clarification of issues
* Estimate Preparation - labor hours, material costs; tender form requirement tools & equipment lists; scheduling; and compile bid packages for subcontractors
* Prepares bid bond applications
* Costs out potential scope of work changes and bid to construction reviews
* Costs out potential additional costs claim situations
* Tender closings i.e., review of documents, compile proposal information, participate in closing meetings
* Customer follow-up of proposals
* Address any addendum's, change orders etc.
* Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her manager
* Participate in turnover meetings with Project Management on successful bids
* Site visits may be required on more complex tenders
* Maintains tendering process and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems/procedures

What You Bring To The Team

* Minimum 5 - 8 years' of power plant experience within an estimating department
* Strong estimating background on large capital projects
* Experience managing lump sum projects with large value
* Exceptional organizational Skills
* Strong communication skills - oral and written
* Common sense, concentration, imagination, ability to read and understand drawings, self-assurance, responsible attitude, and leadership qualities.
* Good knowledge of sub trades
* Trade Certification and/or P. Eng / CET, or equivalent industry experience
* Trade - Pipefitter, Boilermaker, Millwright, or Ironworker background
* Good familiarity with MS Excel, Word, MS Project
* Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment including Aecon personnel, vendors, consultants, and clients
* Ability to develop Level 3, 4 schedules using MS Projects or Primavera P6 or Hard Dollar
