VitalSkin Dermatology has an exciting new opportunity supporting our Dermatology and Pathology Lab.

Job Summary:

Under close supervision, utilize laboratory information systems to accurately register patients.

Examples of Essential Functions:
  1. Accurately enter patient name and demographic data, referring physician and other necessary billing information into LIS.
  2. Performs data entry functions with a minimum error rate, as determined by lab protocols.
  3. Call physicians' offices for information not supplied on requisition.
  4. Interpret specimen site description and clinical impression/diagnosis and accurately enter data into LIS.
  5. Determine topography and enter data.
  6. Complete necessary paperwork and reports.
  7. Provide backup assistance in specimen receiving or other clerical areas as requested.
  8. Adherence to Safety Regulations.


Qualifications Guidelines

Education/Training/Experience Required:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Desirable:

Secretarial or clerical, previous medical billing, and data processing experience.

Knowledge:
  • Basic computer and work processing applications
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Understanding of anatomy and physiology
  • Client care, QA, and safety practices
  • Data processing and billing principles and techniques

Skills/Abilities:
  • Operate a personal computer including word processing
  • Type a minimum of 60 wpm
  • Accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Operate dictation equipment, microfiche, copiers, calculators, multi-line telephone, and facsimile equipment
  • Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with company deadlines
  • Understand and follow specifications and instruction
  • Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff, management, and external customer
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records
