MAYOR'S OFFICE - DUTIES: Manages key mayoral initiatives involving City departments and external partners to coordinate activities relative to special projects and events. Contributes subject matter expertise on issues including neighborhood development, DEI, food insecurity, homelessness, education, and equitable municipal service delivery. Attends and participates in a variety of meetings regarding neighborhood, business and related community and organizational meetings. Develops and presents reports and information regarding matters and issues and works with the communications director to inform and engage the public on policy positions and initiatives. Serves as mayor's liaison to various groups and institutions including arts, cultural international and special interest groups and/or institutions, attends meetings and events as the mayor's representative and handles special assignments for key staff, Deputy Mayor and Mayor. Plans and outlines meetings and special events like Traveling City Hall and Mayor's Education Roundtable. Assist Deputy with managing expenditures for community engagement activities. Regularly collaborate and communicate with, report to, and brief the Deputy Mayor and Mayor. Attend evening and weekend events as needed. Supports Executive Assistant as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and advanced degree preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in relevant positions. Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively. Accurate and attentive to details.
Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and implement recommendations in support of goals. An effective, energetic, and open communicator and collaborator, who can work productively with a broad range of people, including City staff, community stakeholders, elected officials, and the public. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and some graphic design skills. Adaptable and flexible in responding to multiple priorities and deadlines. Interested in community engagement, helping others and creating equitable outcomes, and has worked successfully within historically under-served communities, and with a wide range of diverse stakeholders. A problem solver who takes the initiative in identifying and addressing challenging issues, generates recommendations, and/or takes appropriate steps to attend to those issues. A task-oriented project manager who keeps projects on time and budget. Knowledgeable of Evansville and various communities.
