Summary:
At Vighter, we take pride in partnering with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to deliver compassionate healthcare services to our nation's veterans. We are seeking dedicated Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our team and provide exceptional care at various VA facilities throughout the Denver, Aurora, Colorado Springs, and Lakewood, CO Metropolitan area, including:
- Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (Aurora, CO)
- Other locations across the Denver metro (Please let us know of your desired location).

Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Take and record patient vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure).
- Provide patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians.
- Assist with medical procedures and treatments, as directed by the clinical team.
- Monitor patient conditions and report changes to the nursing staff or healthcare provider.
- Assist patients with mobility, positioning, and transferring, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by following infection control protocols.
- Document patient care accurately and timely using VA and Vighter electronic medical records.
- Support quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Uphold the highest standards of care and demonstrate empathy and respect for all patients.
- Provide patient education on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in compliance with Vighter and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.
- Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Association's Bill of Rights for patients.
- All services shall be provided by established standards, principles, and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.
- All Health Care Providers will document care delivered and follow-up care required.
- Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge of new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
Experience & Education:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from an accredited program.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a CNA, preferably in a VA, long-term care, or outpatient setting.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted CNA certification.
- Current BLS certification required through the *American Heart Association. *Must have and maintain one of the following certifications: Basic Life Support for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association®, CPR for the professional rescuer through the American Red Cross or the American Safety and Health Institute.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
These KSA are both requirements but also things that will help you to be successful with Vighter and the facility where you will work:
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to navigate electronic health records (EHR) and other web-based systems for documentation and training.
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- A deep sense of purpose and dedication to the United States and our U.S. Military Veterans, their Families, and other patients as assigned.
- Occasional schedule flexibility with a desired end state of 100% staffing and 100% service to the patients that we provide care to.

- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Flexibility in scheduling and a commitment to ensuring full staffing coverage.
- Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance.

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements
- Generally speaking, VAMC Surgical operations, including emergency and ICU are 24/7/365.
- This position requires rotational on-call duties and may necessitate return to the facility to provide care.
- This position has availabilities to work day, evening and night shifts. Availability during weekends and holidays is a possibility. Advanced notice will be provided for scheduling purposes.
- We try our best to accommodate your schedule, so please inform Vighter of your desired schedule and/or geographic limitations in advance.

- Outpatient / VA Medical Centers throughout Central and Eastern Colorado, utilizing best-in-class equipment, techniques and staffing support.
- Days / Shifts / Swing / Weekend Days / Weekend Nights schedule with occasional on-call duties.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day.
- Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
- Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and carry up to 10 feet.
- Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
- Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
- Must undergo urine drug screening (UDS).
- Most positions require a Tuberculosis skin test and an up-to-date immunization record.

Qualifications
- The provider shall possess the required qualification/elements to be privileged and/or credentialed in accordance with the VetPro, background checks, fingerprinting, badging, annual fit testing, and pre-employment and annual drug testing.
- The contractor's credentials/qualifications are subject to review by VAMC Staff. These qualifications at a minimum will be based on Joint Commission (JC), or equivalent, quality standards for training, education, and competency.
