Therapy/Rehabilitation - PT Acute Care Hospital @ Piedmont Fayette Hospital

- Physical therapists help patients with injuries and chronic health conditions regain their range of motion, manage their pain, and improve their quality of life.
- PTs play a critical role not only in treating musculoskeletal conditions but also in educating patients about staying fit and preventing future injuries.
- Reports to Unit Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
- Review's physician's referral and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians.
- Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
- Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
- Plans and prepares written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data.
- Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
- Administers treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment, such as hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist pack, ultraviolet and infrared lamps and ultrasound machines.
- Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Administers massage, and traction to relieve pain.
- Records, treatment, response, and progress in patients charts.
- Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
- Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of assistants and aides.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited PT program.
- Current PT license in good standing.
- One year of experience as PT in the healthcare setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
