South Lake Tahoe, United States Lake Tahoe Community College Full time

Position Director of Residential Living Department Housing Starting Salary $71,876 to $79,337 annually, dependent on education and experience, and include a 782 sq ft one bedroom apartment valued at $18,000 annually Initial Screening Date 03/25/2024 Preferred Start Date 07/01/2024 Details

Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) announces recruitment for the Director of Residential Living. The new Director of Residential Living (DRL) will develop and nurture a safe, engaging, and inclusive residential community at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) for both on and off campus student housing. The Director of Residential Living is charged with creating a home environment, promoting holistic growth, and supporting the transition and progression of student residents. The Director of Residential Living must be a caring presence, accessible to all residents in on campus and off campus housing, who supports, inspires and challenges residents to continue to achieve academic and personal goals.

In October 2021, the District submitted the Student Housing Grant Program Proforma Summary as part of the grant application that showed the feasibility of a 100-bed housing facility on-campus for low-income, full-time, California students. The DRL will support the incoming (July 2025) 100 on campus residents and current 31 off campus residents as well as select and supervise Resident Advisors (RA) at both sites.

The DRL position is a live-in role and the on-campus apartment (782 sq. ft., furnished one bedroom) must serve as the DRL's primary residence. Amenities include gas, electricity, heat, trash removal, sewage, high speed internet access, cleaning and maintenance, snow removal, parking, and a standard-size post office box. On call responsibilities are shared. The DRL is discouraged from being away from campus for more than ten consecutive days during a primary academic term.

As a result of living within the residence halls, residents will:

* Have the ability to connect and feel a sense of belonging in community.
* Increase self-awareness and social responsibility
* Develop a sense of personal background and cultural contributions.
* Gain an appreciation of others' backgrounds and cultural contributions.
* Understand campus & community standards and expectations.
* Identify campus standards of inclusive excellence.
* Engage in face-to-face communication.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

After review, suitable applicants will be invited by phone or email on or around Friday, March 29, 2024 to participate in a skills assessment. Successful candidates will then be interviewed by a committee of approximately 5 individuals; these interviews are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview. LTCC reserves the right to return to the applicant pool at any point during the recruitment process.

COMPENSATION:

Salary Range: LTCC offers a competitive compensation package that includes a starting placement salary of $71,876 to $79,337 annually, dependent on education and experience. There is potential to reach $92,009 annually, through step advancement plus longevity when appropriate. In addition to base salary, this position qualifies for extra bilingual (Spanish), masters or doctorate pay.

In addition to annual salary, the Director of Residential Living will be afforded a 782 sq. ft., furnished one bedroom apartment (valued at $1,500 monthly / $18,000 annually). Amenities include gas, electricity, heat, trash removal, sewage, high speed internet access, cleaning and maintenance, snow removal, parking, and a standard-size post office box. This will allow the Director of Residential Living to be visible within the student resident community, attend meetings and events regularly, and be able to respond to emergencies within this community.

The District will provide housing (estimated to be $1,500 monthly) for the Director of Residential Living in the interim, prior to the anticipated opening of the student housing building. This will provide ample time to further develop housing policies and procedures, market and outreach to eligible students, create a housing selection process, build a resident assistant training program, and establish outcomes for student resident programming.

Benefits: Health and Welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long term disability. Several plan options maintain a zero monthly premium cost from the employee and include full coverage of a gold-level medical plan that, on average, covers 80% of healthcare expenses for a standard population. LTCC also matches 27% of an eligible employee's salary and contributes it into a CalPERS pension account for qualifying employees.

Work-Life Balance: This is an exempt positions with work expectation of 40 hours per week or greater and 12 months per year, including night and weekend requirements. It is understood that the demands of the Director of Residential Living position will require more than eight (8) hours a day or forty (40) hours per workweek.

LTCC provides a generous leave package including 17 paid holidays per year plus 12 days vacation (with the potential to reach 24 days through years of service) and 12 days sick leave per year.

LTCC's Commitment to Diversity

Our ideal candidate will share and participate in LTCC's commitment to the values of diversity and equity while serving its ethnically and socioeconomically diverse student population. Lake Tahoe Community College is a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution, reflecting the surrounding California and Nevada area.
