Responsibilities

* Promotes professionalism and interacts with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment.
* Displays technical expertise necessary to ensure timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures.
* Ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
* Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider.
* Supports organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
* Attains required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.
* Exhibits problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results.
* Participates in the training/mentoring of new employees, students or interns including lectures and bench techniques.
* Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
* Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.
* Responsible for other duties as assigned.
* Engages in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.
* Promotes consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution and conduct improvement.
* Retains accountability for quality of care given to the patient.
* Promotes service excellence and growth of the laboratory.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

* Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science
* Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles

Preferred Job Requirements:

* ASCP or equivalent preferred. Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
* Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
