This is a typical Monday through Friday position (not a shift schedule and not 7 on/7 off schedule) with on-call responsibilities nights and weekends. This is a great opportunity if you are an experienced Operations Specialist, Equipment and Controls Technician, Maintenance Manager, Natural Gas Operations Technician, Railway Engineer, Quality Tech, Corrosion Technician, Gas Mechanic or similar.Primary Purpose:Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.Responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation and accuracy of all natural gas and control facilities. Responsibilities include sites primarily in the Division 6 Measurement East group area from Leeville, LA (west) to Ycloskey, LA (east) and from Port Sulphur, LA (south) to Slidell, LA (north), including Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne. However, the assigned area may vary and is subject to change.Essential duties and responsibilities:Install, inspect, test, adjust, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and remove advanced measurement, control and regulation equipment, and gas quality equipmentDetect measurement error, correct volumes as needed and provide supporting documentationMonitor gas volumes through the measurement system; ensure all corrections are applied and proper gas composition is appliedInterpret and apply electrical and electronic schematics pertaining to EFM and measurement electronicsAssess all facets of assigned facilities to ensure accurate measurement and maintaining the company lost and unaccounted for gas and product with a high degree of ownership within the established corporate goalsResponsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as neededOversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third partiesIdentify, report, and correct safety and environmental concernsPerform audits of custody transfer and control data when necessaryComplete appropriate documentation and paperworkPerform all work in compliance with Company standards, policies, procedures, regulatory and tariff requirementsDemonstrate performance toward operational excellenceWork safely when performing duties while fully embracing safety programs including but not limited to safety observations, job safety analysis, last minute risk assessments, safe driving, cell phone policy, etc.Respond timely in communicationsComplete projects in a timely manner in accordance with budgets and expectationsDisplay the Kinder Morgan values and code of business conduct while performing work which includes but is not limited to honesty, integrity, respect for people, openness, teamwork, professionalism, excellence, and pride in what we doDemonstrate a positive attitude that creates a good work environmentMust be self-motivatedOvertime will be expected as required by the position; Limited overnight travel may also be requiredMust gain proficiency in boat operations and boating safety in a timely manner, as required by CompanyOther duties as assigned
Education: Minimum High School diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of pipeline experience.Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurersWill be required to possess a commercial driver's license, drive a company commercial vehicle and comply with all commercial vehicle regulationsAchieve and maintain all qualifications, certifications, and progression requirements applicable to the job classificationCompletion of any site specific technical training that may be applicableExperience / Specific Knowledge:Understand and operate all measurement related instrumentationWorking knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of measurement projectsProficient with computer skills (MS Office, operating systems, company software, and technical systems)Basic Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, etc.)Competencies, skills, and abilities:Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies during and after regular business hours including after dark hours, which requires carrying a communication deviceAbility to complete work assignments with minimal supervision in an acceptable time frameAbility to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with measurement systemsAbility to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work independentlyAbility to successfully work in team environmentMust be able to take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow rulesMust possess strong written and verbal communication skillsFollow safe work practices and actively participate in the safety programThe successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets Knowledge of company policies and PHMSA regulationsWorking Conditions / Physical Demands:Must be able to travel to locations in company provided boatMust be able to safely transport one's self, equipment, and materials from land or dock to boatMust be able to safely work on elevated offshore platforms above waterMust be able to withstand extreme weather conditionsMust be able to work while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment such as, safety glasses, flame retardant clothing, steel toe footwear, respirator, etc.Must be able to frequently, enter confined spaces, climb to and work from elevated platforms, excavated areas, stairs, ladders, walkways, etc.Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, lift 26 to 50 pounds from floor to waist occasionally, and 51 to 100 pounds if requiredMay work in low-lit areasPreferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required, but advantageous in this position)A two year technical degree in, electrical, electronics, or equivalent from an approved and accredited college or universityExperience in all phases of measurement as described in the Job ResponsibilitiesKnowledge of gas chromatographyWorking knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, measurement related portions of NEC, and AGA standardsKnowledge and experience with safe handling practices of products (gas and liquids)Approved educational courses in all phases of measurementJob level commensurate with skills and experience.
