SUMMARY:The Sample Receiving Technician reports to the Sample Reception Supervisor in the Hillside Lab. This role includes processing efficient and accurate laboratory samples and other administrative tasks, and interaction with internal and external customers.

Our certified laboratories located in Union and Ocean counties are equipped for microbiology and chemistry testing of drinking water, private wells, recreational bathing water, wastewater, and solid/hazardous wastes for all of New Jersey. Our satellite offices in Hunterdon and Sussex counties, along with a fleet of field samplers provide unparalleled sampling techniques and sample pick-up services for clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prelog samples from the start of the day, pickups from client sampling, and walk-ins
- Unpack shipments and document receipt of samples.
- Organize samples and record them temporarily on arrival.
- Enter client data into LIMS. Recording client number, requested turn-around time, and payment information.
- When available use project for logging in client ID/Site, Date/Time collected, Sample type, Sample matrix, Code for sampler, and logging test used to test groups
- Sample Bottle numbering and bottle refrigeration
- Maintenance of the department and lab, including stocking supplies and housekeeping
- Handle interactions with walk-in clients
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associated degree in science or an equivalent 2 years of environment laboratory experience preferred, but not required
- Experience in a fast-paced work Lab environment preferred.
