Job Summary and Description

Teaching faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of fulfilling the District mission of providing a quality education for all students attending the colleges. Categories include full-time, temporary with benefits, and temporary without benefits. Full-time faculty members are classified according to the ranks of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. Faculty members are responsible to a department/program chairperson. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of leader, teacher, advisor, and facilitator of learning. Faculty members will uphold the mission and values of the colleges' and foster effective working relationships with students and colleagues.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

* A secondary education that includes a certificate of completion of a court reporting program (Level 1 or Level 2) with 5 years of work experience in court reporting, or An Associate of Applied Science in Court Reporting, or Any Associate of Arts degree with a Level 1, Level 2 certificate from a state-certified school, or NCRA Certification as a Court Reporting Instructor, and
* Court Reporting or Certified as a shorthand reporter (CSR) by the Supreme Court of Texas, or Registered Professional Reporter as certified by NCRA, or NCRA Certification as a Court Reporting Instructor with 5 years of experience in the Court Reporting.
* Three (3) years of experience as a working Court Reporter/Stenographer, If the applicant does not have an Associate level of college degree, they must present evidence of 5 years of work experience in court reporting.

Preferred Education and Experience:

* Proficiency in Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART), computer-aided transcription, real-time writing, and litigation support.
* Knowledge in StenEd Theory.
* Experience/ability to incorporate technology into the classroom.
* Experience/ability to teach at the community college level.
* Experience with or willingness to teach hybrid, online asynchronous, remote synchronous, or Hy-flex (i.e. face-to-face, online asynchronous, and remote synchronous simultaneously).
* Experience with or willingness to teach course at night and/or weekends.
* Ability to teach any speed range in the Court Reporting program (60 to 240 WMP).
* Ability to prepare classroom materials for use in dictation, speed goals tests, and Court Reporting and captioning and academic courses.
