Position Summary

Orientation Leaders (OLs) aid new students in their transition to East Tennessee State University (ETSU). OLs must uphold the ETSU mission by exposing new students to high-quality educational programs and services that promote student learning and prepare students for their transition to the university. They also assist family members by introducing them to University resources and areas of support for their student.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Duties and Responsibilities

* Serve as a positive role model for new students and their families
* Attend and actively participate in the Orientation Leader training program
* Assist with the organization, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of New Student Orientation programs
* Acquaint new students with campus services, activities, facilities, and campus rules and regulations
* Encourage new students to fully participate in the university environment
* Actively participate in Orientation Day activities
* Lead tours and discussion groups for incoming students and/or parents
* Become knowledgeable through training on various resources and aspects of the University
* Aid in the development of new students' class schedules and assist with the registration process
* Additional responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications

* Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
* Must relate well with students, parents, faculty, and administrators
* Must be mature, responsible, and display a willingness to assist students in transitioning to college
* Must be currently enrolled as a student at ETSU and in good academic and judicial standing
* Must present a professional demeanor that favorably represents the institution and department
* Must demonstrate a desire to learn about the University, its regulations, its people, its programs, and its community

Preferred Qualifications Salary 7.25 per hour
