MISSION: The Hume Center strives to create an environment of psychological well-being both internally for our work community and externally for the community we serve, with special consideration for the under- and un-served, through practicing an enabling consultation process. We believe in serving our community through strengthening existing and developing new resources; providing the highest caliber of culturally sensitive behavioral health services, professional training, and clinical research; and focusing on consistent improvement through outcomes, data-based quality assurance, and program evaluation.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Populations Served: Middle School & High School Youth (Ages 10-18) and adults involved in their lives (e.g., parents, school staff, administrators).
Services Provided: Prevention, Early Intervention, Mental Health Consultation, Groups, Outreach and Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or Social Work.
  • Registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences OR eligible to be licensed with the Board of Psychology.
  • Four years clinical experience providing psychological services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community resources strongly preferred.
  • Experience providing psychotherapy with culturally, socio economically and ethnically diverse populations.
  • Training in Mental Health Consultation (Preferred).
  • Must be willing to work full-time, minimum 40 hours/week, five days a week, and be present in person at the Hume Center or at school sites. There may also be some weekend hours required when participating in outreach efforts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, GSuite, and Electronic Health Records
  • Possess a valid California Driver's license. Must be willing to use own vehicle and valid car insurance for work related travel. Travel between school sites and office is required, an operable vehicle is mandatory.
  • Be willing to use own cell phone to be accessible and willing to be available to receive calls for crisis and/or emergency situations.
  • Proficient and experienced providing services in a South Asian language (preferred).

FELLOWSHIP PLACEMENT FOR ACCRUING LICENSURE HOURS:
  • This position is an exciting opportunity to be part of a learning community and as such there will be a few unique features offered with this position:
    o Licensed supervision and training will be provided and is structured within the regular 40-hour work week.
    o Billable service expectation will be slightly less than a full-time staff position.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Actively participate in didactic and supervision forums to ensure licensure requirements are met
• Independently responsible for Board documentation and submitting it on time
• Provide comprehensive clinical services in service program(s), included, but not limited to, intake, assessment, therapy, case management, crisis intervention, consultation.
• Complete initial screening, gather information for assessment and triage clients by coordinating services with therapists.
• Develop service plans for each client clearly identifying goals, objectives, service needs and methods of intervention.
• Schedule and attend regular appointments with clients in Hume Center offices, homes, and community settings to assist client's progress in successfully accomplishing goals.
• Make contact with, and include as appropriate, parent, family, caseworkers and other collateral contracts.
• Collaborate and/or consult with 3rd parties in client cases.
• Maintain on-going contact with client and service providers in order to monitor service delivery, client progress, and assess additional needs.
• Collaborate closely with service providers in coordinating service delivery.
• Facilitate support/therapy groups.
• Provide mental health consultation.
• Identify community resources and establish effective collaborative relationships with liaisons in the community.
• Assist clients in how to effectively navigate and link to community systems.
• Attend weekly staff meetings, trainings, group and individual supervision.
• Maintain client case records, and document activities as required by agency, funding source, and contract requirements.
• Complete case records, including intakes, clinical progress notes, discharge/transfer summaries, service plans and other documentation in a timely manner.
• Meet minimum billable hours as set by the Hume Center.
• Participate in Trainee Recruitment, as needed.
• Present and/or Facilitate Program Orientation, Didactic and Training meetings. Didactics are weekly and include topics relevant to working in schools (e.g., Mental Health Consultation, Systems level work, Suicide and Bullying, Group Therapy, Child Psychiatry, etc.)
• Typical day is 9am to 6pm with a 1 hour lunch break; some evening hours are required as well as some required school events throughout the year.
• Services are based out of the Fremont clinic in the Tri-City area and can serve individuals 0 to end of life.
• Your ongoing program assignments will be based upon performance evaluation(s), available funding, contract requirements, organizational and/or program needs. You may also be asked to provide services to individuals through the outpatient clinic based on program needs.
• Services include individual, group and family therapy as well as prevention and early intervention services (e.g. consultation with school staff, child-specific consultation, etc.).
• Services are focused on reducing the impact of behavioral health issues on the well-being of the population in order to strengthen the individual's existing community resources and relationships.

School Based Services (SBS) Responsibilities:
• Provide individual and group early intervention services to students as well as the students' families and school staff (e.g. consultation with school staff, child-specific consultation, etc.).
• Conduct and participate in outreach and educational forums in the community
  • Facilitate quarterly workshops for students
  • Facilitate ongoing support groups for students
  • Organize and facilitate as needed support programming for teachers, staff and administration.
