For the last 16 years, the Boys and Girls Club of the Golden Triangle has been at the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantage economic, social, and family circumstances. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens. Project Learn is an evidence-based afterschool program that incorporates academic enrichment, health awareness, workforce ready skills, and family engagement. The Project Learn VISTA Project, based in Columbus, MS will complement and expand our efforts by enduring we can continue to offer children, their families, and the community: education enrichment, healthy awareness opportunities, work-force ready skills learning, and family engagement services. The Communications Coordinator VISTA will build capacity by development and implementing an external communications/marketing plan utilizing traditional and social media content, create and execute a timeline, produce and manage written and visual/multimedia content for email listserv, website, and social media networks. To have a successful service year, the VISTA should have knowledge of and willingness to promote the mission of the Boys and Girls Club, have strong written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented and highly organized, ability to work with a diverse group of people, is capable of thinking creatively and analytically, and manages time efficiently. The impact of this project can assist our children and their families with access to opportunities to eliminate the perpetuation of poverty in the local communities. Member Duties : As a VISTA member at the Boys and Girls Club you help our children achieve education excellence, impact their families, and individuals in low-income communities. You must be committed, compassionate, and excited about the service we do which is to provide our young people with access to as many opportunities as possible. The VISTA will build capacity by developing and implementing an external communications/marketing plan utilizing traditional and social media content; create and execute a timeline, produce and manage written and visual/multimedia content for email listserv, website, and social media networks to raise the visibility of the Boys and Girls Club. Other duties will include building relationships with media outlets and key communications partner that will lead to more media coverage of Boys and Girls Club events. Also, develop and incorporate new communications tools and creative dissemination strategies to strengthen Boys and Girls Club programming.
