Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse, under the direction of the physician(s), carries out specific nursing duties including the recording of vital signs, assisting with examinations and diagnostic procedures as requested. Performs other nursing activities described in the Licensed Practical Nurse Act. Administers prescribed medications and performs rehabilitative nursing duties.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Reviews patient records, assuring they are complete with regard to previously ordered studies such as laboratory reports, x-ray reports, electrocardiogram reports, etc.
• Assures that examining rooms assigned are properly equipped in terms of disposable supplies and also assures that all equipment is in working order.
• Understands precertification process and may call for precertification's. Works with patient account representatives and secretary to facilitate referrals and patient care. Alerts physician to needed documentation in charting.
• Gathers patient information for vital signs, medication reconciliation, allergies, etc.
• Assist physicians with examination and procedures as necessary.
• Abides by OSHA guidelines.
• Maintains patient and practice confidentiality.
• Maintains professional demeanor at all times with patients, caregivers, physicians and coworkers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education (Including Licenses and Certifications): Licensed as Practical Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

BLS/CPR Certified.

ACLS/PALS is required in specialty areas as determined by accrediting bodies.

Experience: Two years' experience as a LPN in a clinical/ambulatory setting preferred. Experience working with an EMR system preferred
