Job Summary

The Manager of Mental Health Emergency Services is responsible for managing the mental health clinical evaluation team in the Emergency Department. This role is accountable for managing personnel, including overseeing schedules, clinical competencies and evaluation processes, ensuring productivity including the day-to-day operations, and staff performance. This position will work closely with the team overseeing county regulatory requirements for acute and high-risk mental health assessments and working with the team overseeing educational and competency requirements. Ensures that quality care is provided according to policies and procedures, patient referrals/assignments are processed, and that daily staffing needs are met to assure the highest quality care, safety, and satisfaction. May share on call rotation with other leadership staff. Provides direct clinical service as directed.

Pay Range

Minimum $100,755 Midpoint $133,515 Maximum $166,254

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: Minimum of 4 years (4) post master's degree clinical experience with at least two (2) of those years with children. At least two years (2) of supervisory or leadership experience in mental health. Minimum three years (3) of post clinical licensure.

Preferred: Minimum of 6 years post master's degree and three years (3) of supervisory or leadership experience in mental health within a medical setting, ideally within an Emergency Department, county assessment team or inpatient psychiatric unit.

Education

Required: Master's degree in social work or marriage and family therapy or equivalent from an accredited program.

Training

Preferred: Previous experience in placing LPS holds for mental health patients

Specialized Skills

Required: Broad knowledge of quality, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory requirements, medical staff structure, and legal aspects of care. Knowledge of quality, performance improvement and patient safety programs. Ability to read, write, and speak with professional quality. Strong knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to understand budgeting and follow a budget. Excellent analytical and organizational skills; excellent critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.
