Laboratory Technician

Under the general supervision, this position will manage and maintain efficient and orderly laboratory facilities, equipment, and related support activities within the department.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

* Responsible for receiving, testing, and analyzing samples and accurately recording test results.
* Creates and maintains databases and/or spreadsheets to manage and process information or data.
* Accurately maintains samples from receipt to processing to final analysis and reporting.
* Assigns and oversees progress of multiple contracts at one time.
* Performs basic routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and provides advice on equipment repairs and upgrades, when needed.
* May supervise student interns as assigned. Trains and provides additional instruction as required.
* Organizes and maintains supplies and reagents. Prepares purchase orders when needed.
* Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications

* Typically Bachelor's Degree is required.
* Minimum of 1 year experience in academic laboratory setting.
* Previous molecular biology laboratory experience and use of lab equipment and software programs/applications.
* Experience in data entry and management.
* Strong communication and writing skills.
* Ability to work efficiently and independently.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Well organized, focused and detail oriented.

Salary range

$18.24 - $26.15 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
