Job Description
  • A Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab nurse is an RN who specializes in GI tract diseases and disorders, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, acid reflux, and Crohn's disease, among many others. GI nurses assist physicians with various procedures and treatments, and provide patient education.
  • A GI Lab RN may work with both inpatient and outpatient procedures, while using cutting-edge technology in the process. Procedures might include those such as colonoscopies and endoscopies.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the gastrointestinal area, or other acute care role, or participation in an internship program/course is preferred

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

  • Current California licensures as a Registered Nurse required
  • Current Basic Life Support certification required
  • Current ACLS certification

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledgeable of the California Nursing Practice Act.
  • Able to understand and follow all policies, procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations of Nursing Service of the facility
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
