Position: Preschool Intervention and Referral Specialist (.5 FTE) and Preschool and Instructional Coach (.5 FTE)
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or higher
- Preschool through grade three (P-3) teacher certification;
- Experience teaching in general education preschool programs;
- Knowledge of the school district's curriculum and assessment desired
- Experience in implementing developmentally appropriate preschool curricula;
- Ability to work on site during the hours required
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Required criminal background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal alien status
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: Assigned Pre-K Administrator
Job Responsibilities:
1. Work within a consultation model with relevant school district, private provider, and local Head
Start agency staff and administrators to deliver preschool age-appropriate services designed to
decrease referrals to special education and maximize general education classroom teachers' ability
to support all students.
2. Visit classrooms regularly to model, coach, informally observe using structured observation
instruments providing feedback
3. Assist novice teachers;
4. Provide professional development as needed.
5. Provide support to general education classroom teachers to address the needs of children with
challenging behaviors or learning disabilities.
6. Coach preschool teachers on the implementation of the Pyramid Model for Supporting Social
Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children, aka, The Pyramid Model. (National Center for
Pyramid Model Innovations).
7. Perform duties as indicated in the Preschool Intervention and Referral Specialist (.5 FTE) and
the Preschool Instructional Coach (.5 FTE) Job Descriptions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
10-month salary and benefits as determined by the Board. This is a PreK Grant funded position.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the
Board's policy on evaluation of certified staff.
