Ultrasound Technician

Job Specifications/Qualifications

Two (2) years prior experience as a Ultrasound Technologist preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

BLS required

Registered or Registry eligible by ARDMS

Registered by the ARRT and Licensed by the Arkansas Dept. of Health

If holds an ARRT license.

Education

High School or GED

Radiologic Technology Course in an AMA approved school preferred or

Completion of a formal ultrasound program course.

Quality Imaging

1. Ensures correct patient, diagnosis's and exam with the use of two identifiers
2. Performs diagnostic scans as directed by Radiologist
3. Uses correct scan protocols in an effort to optimize image quality while decreasing scan length and repeat procedures
4. Demonstrates properly positioning of patients and scan equipment
5. Performs quality assurance tests according to manufacturer, reporting any malfunctioning equipment.

1. Responsible for maintaining all scan records, QA records and charges
2. Trained and able to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
3. Proficient in sending images to be viewed by LIP.
4. Additional duties as assigned.
