What we want

The Postdoctoral Research Associate supports a NIOSH-funded research project that characterizes physical exposures and evaluates ergonomic controls to reduce occupational injuries for Occupational Ergonomics and Biomechanics (OEB) Laboratory

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire's experience.

Required Education and Experience:

* PHD


* No experience required



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Verbal and written communication skills



Preferred Qualifications:

* 3 years or longer lab experience


* Focus on Ergonomics and/or Biomechanics.


* Expertise in 3-D motion capture systems and biomechanical modeling


* Strong analytic and quantitative skills


* Strong programing skills (Matlab, Labview, or JAVA)


* Written and verbal communication skills


* High level of professionalism


* Problem solving skills and Atten


* Knowledge of NVivo software, facilitating focus groups, qualitative and quantitative data collection and management. Writing proficiency



Responsibilities:

Manage and Support Ongoing Funded Research Projects

* Coordinates a current research project that evaluates biomechanical loading and postural balance during simulated commercial fishing tasks.


* Develops 3-D motion capture data collection/analysis protocols using Optitrack motion capture system, Visual 3D software, and AMTI force plates.


* Leads and supports the project data collection and analysis.


* Leads bi-weekly meetings with the PI and research team.



Other Academic/Research Duties

* Mentors students on their research projects in the OEB lab.


* Initiates and develops research proposals per his/her own research interests.


* Disseminates study results via conference proceedings, presentations, and journal articles.


* Performs other duties as assigned.
