Description:
Hybrid Weekly on Wednesday and Thursday.
 
Responsibilities:
You will support the Payroll processing activities relating to Work Forward Taxation. You will perform analytical audits of the Payroll Tax reports to ensure both aspects of timeliness and accuracy are achieved in processing all employee payments.
This position will serve as the subject matter expert for the processes they support, having a complete understanding of how this process integrates with the overall end-to-end payroll processing.
 
In this position you will also:
Perform detailed verification, review and preparation of payroll tax updates as required from daily tax and travel reports and/or manual updates. Defined processing timeline schedules must be achieved to ensure the timely and accurate recording of all employee transactions.
• Support all customer service channel activities, including cases, and ensure regular updates are maintained as it relates to processes, changes and/or announcements to assist in maintaining up-to-date information available to Verizon employees and their Payroll peers.
• Assist with tax setups for remote and travel employees. Review state & local taxes associated with remote addresses and work with the HR team to have employee's HR/Tax file updated.
• Identify the need for special ad-hoc queries to assist in completing appropriateness review of fluctuation deviations from standard processing flow or expected results.
• Assist with remediation recommendations.
• Assist with any compliance issues raised or identified through remediation.
• Collaborate with Tax team members to ensure documentation of Payroll Tax DTPs (Desktop Procedures) are maintained and updated, as necessary.
• Participate in ad-hoc projects and process improvements for the department, as needed.
 
MUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important):

You have experience managing large work volumes, demonstrate flexibility, and adapt easily to change. You’re an excellent communicator, and use your strong quantitative, organizational, and analytical skills to guide your work. You’re comfortable interacting with peers in various departments to resolve complex issues.

• An ability to work individually and as part of a team
• A bachelor’s degree.
• Three or more years of relevant work experience with multi-state and telecommuting taxation, including local taxes.
• Experience with HRMS and Payroll processing responsibilities and system applications-PeopleSoft and/or Workday preferred.
• Intermediate Excel.
 
DESIRED SKILLS:
List skills that are not required to perform the role but would be helpful and, in some cases, could supersede a missing "must-have" skill.
• Understanding of the end-to-end Payroll functional processes as well as how the Payroll functional processes integrate with the overall end-to-end Payroll Tax processes.
• Experience with 3rd party tax applications, i.e. ADP, CIC+.
• Strong customer service skills (both verbal and written).
• Good organizational, time management and communication skills.
• Strong sense of urgency, proactive approach, and a solid focus on results.
• Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously.
• Willingness for flexible scheduling to meet processing demands.
• HCM PeopleSoft and Workday experience preferred.
• CPP or FPC preferred.
 
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
• A bachelor’s degree. (MANDATORY)
 
LOGISTICS:
Shift: This position is standard 9-5pm. Weekend work may be required during Year End.
