JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Nursing Assistantis responsible forcoordinating and delivering patient careutilizingthe nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

* Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.


* Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptlyreportsignificant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.


* Assistspatients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge.


* Provides care/ treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including, but not limited to:


* Monitoring of vital signs


* Measurement of height and weight


* Specimen collection


* Skin preps/scrubs such aschlorohexidine (CHG) bathing


* Catheter care


* Capillary blood glucose checks


* Simple wound care


* Range-of-motion exercises


* Draincare


* Assistpatients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing,feedingandassistingwith ambulation as outlined in plan ofcare


* Maintains an effective clinical work environment includingbut not limited to cleaning the work area, changing linens,maintainingand monitoringsupply levels, andtransporting patients/specimens throughout hospital.


* Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist.Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS

Required

* Must havenursing assistant certification, such as Nurse Aide I registration as administered by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) orequivalent


* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
