The Genetic Risk and Neurodevelopment Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Washington, directed by Dr. Jennifer Forsyth, is seeking applications for a full-time Research Study Coordinator 1 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) position. We are focused on understanding genetic, neurobiological, and environmental mechanisms underlying the development of major mental illnesses. The coordinator will be crucially involved on an on-going NIMH-funded project based in Colombia that aims to identify early clinical and neurobehavioral markers of genetic risk for psychiatric disorders and improve prediction of long-term clinical outcomes. The coordinator will also assist on other on-going related projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination and oversight of Colombia-based project, including working closely with study team in Colombia and a second US-based site to assist with data collection procedures, monitor participant recruitment and data quality, and coordinate DNA sample storage and processing. Assisting with preparation and management of human subjects applications, consent forms and progress reports for institutional review board.

Cleaning and organizing data for analysis and preparing summary reports.

Assisting with processing neuroimaging and/or genetic data using existing pipelines.

Assisting with maintaining contact with study sponsors and completing reports for study sponsors.

Creating documentation for laboratory procedures.

May direct the work of other laboratory staff and research assistants. Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Two years of college level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience performing work in support of clinical, biomedical, or behavioral research studies involving human subjects OR equivalent education/experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Fluent in Spanish

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The lab aims to provide an enriching and supportive environment for all staff and trainees and candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Experience with data management software and statistical software such as REDCap and R is preferred but not required. Experience with bash scripting and unix-based command line tools for processing neuroimaging or genetic data is also highly desirable but not required. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, and excellent grades in relevant undergraduate coursework are desired. There may be opportunities to conduct independent research, submit presentations to conferences, and prepare manuscripts for publication if in line with applicant's goals.
