BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EHS Supervisor's primary function of the position is to help create a culture that identifies, eliminates, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage using safety standards, best management practices, and analytical techniques along with behavior based safety programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Site Emergency Coordinator (training, Evacuation planning, emergency response).
* Leads all first aid reporting with follow up of corrective actions. Orders and manages first aid and new hire supplies.
* Communicates and provides assistance with employees and vendors, data compilation, preparation of reports, meeting minutes, etc.
* Responsible for Environmental reporting and compliance (ENV report due 23rd of every month)
* Oversees chemical management plan, approvals, and documenting chemicals into the website along with overseeing Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system.
* Participates/Leads kaizen events and team projects.
* Assists corporate EHS and site management in developing health and safety programs and procedures.
* Provides support to manufacturing and staff with focus on safety awareness, prevention, and training.
* Responsible for division programs: Safety Vending services, Safety Shoe, Safety Glasses, and Annual Hearing Programs.
* Conducts safety orientation and tours with all new hires, temps, and visitors, and organizes off-site training (as required).
* Leads all OSHA visits while in communication with Corporate EHS (documentation, follow-ups, calls).
* Maintains all required corporate documentation (incident investigations, inspections, training logs, corporate report outs, 4-blockers, etc.), and execute all safety 4-blockers.
* Develops and leads safety committee.
* Ensures that all site-specific programs/procedures are current and maintained.
* Schedules all waste removal with appropriate documentation (hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, universal waste).
* Reports all recordable injuries, fires, chemical spills to specific corporate group to include the reports.
* Ensures that corporate safety concern goals are met weekly.
* Manages all site permits and ensures they are current, and fees are paid on time.
* Responsible for leading cross-functional safety teams and work groups as required.
* Develops, maintains, and communicates a variety of safety information, training topics, and activities.
* Coordinates training program for both safety and non-safety related trainings.
* Conducts safety plant-wide facility meetings as needed.
* Conducts contractor training and audits.
* Ensure OSHA, EPA and IDNR compliance.
* Meets compliance and reporting requirements of federal &/or state regulations.
* Maintains all site required documentation related to safety issues (i.e. accident reports, inspection reports, training logs, etc.).
* Maintains systems to track key EHS performance indicators, and maintains EHS files for the Division.
* Risk prevention areas include hazardous materials exposure, accidents, fires, or other unsafe conditions.
* Coordinates &/or conducts audits: EHS, Industrial Hygiene, Loss Control Incident Investigation, Plant Noise Sampling, etc.
* Formulates and suggests work safety standards, & enforces procedures.
* Works closely with facility management to quickly identify and address potential hazard or compliance issues.
* Reviews and implements and provides recommendations/corrective actions from audits as agreed upon.
* Perform job site analysis, determine employee exposure, and institute safe work procedures.
* Conduct daily safety inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
* Completes, submits and maintains recordable injuries reports including OSHA 300 Logs.
* Coordinates and communicates with employee to return to work for lost time injuries.
* Conducts investigations, reviews/analyzes and implements corrective actions from root cause identification for near misses and accidents and provides corrective action to reduce/eliminate lost time accidents and near misses.
* This is not an all inclusive list and other responsibilities may be assigned as need by your manager.

EDUCATION:

* Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Occupational Health, EHS Management).

EXPERIENCE:

* Minimum of 3 years' experience as a safety coordinator, supervisor, or manager in a manufacturing environment is required.
* Knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), regulations are required.
* OSHA 40 hour and 49CFR DOT certified.
* 5-10 year relevant experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
* ASP/CSP is preferred.
* Experience implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment.
* Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.
* Must have experience interpreting regulatory requirements and implementing and coordinating OSHA compliance programs.
* Experience with Safety & Environmental Management, manufacturing, OSHA, EPA, ISO, Du Pont STOP, RCRA, Waste Water, Storm Water, Air Permits, Ergonomics Assessment, Manufacturing Behavioral Based Safety, development and management of Training Programs, Compliance Management, Worker's Compensation, Lead Auditor, Safety Committee Chair, fire protection, facility wide site security activities, First Responder.
