Staff Tax Associate

MST is experiencing tremendous growth and we are adding a new Staff Tax Associate to our New York based team. This role can be fully remote or hybrid depending upon your location and preference.

Responsibilities:

* Preparation of federal and state income tax returns, amended income tax returns, income tax projections, and quarterly estimated tax calculations for individuals, partnerships, S-Corporations, C-Corporations, trusts, and estates
* Preparation of gift tax returns for individuals
* Preparation of information returns (e.g.,1099s and 1042-S)
* Assist with resolving federal and state tax notice issues
* Assist with the calculation of federal and state tax credits
* Assist with federal and state tax audits
* Perform tax research as needed to prepare returns and to answer client questions
* Perform accounting and bookkeeping functions as needed
* Assist with various consulting projects for clients
* Travel to client sites and the NY office in White Plains as needed

Requirements:

* Bachelors degree in Accounting or related degree program required
* Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred
* CPA or on track to become a CPA have met minimum educational requirements to be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant
* Years of experience in public accounting: 0 to 3
* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work well in a team environment
* Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
