Job Summary:


1. Participate in Teacher Support Team meetings to assist in developing classroom interventions, curriculum modifications and other strategies to improve the student's performance and adjustment at school.

2. Administer psychological assessments and interpret findings in order to assist in determining eligibility for special education services.

3. Perform classroom observations to study student behavior, skills and functioning.

4. Participate in multi disciplinary conferences and IEP conferences including the review of the psychological report and the preparation of IEP goals and objectives.

5. Participate in the preschool screening process including reviewing results and consulting with colleagues and parents.

6. Provide parents and staff with information about child development and preventive mental health strategies and their relationship to learning and behavior of the child.

7. Consult, coordinate and serve as a liaison with outside agencies.

8. Train and supervise psychology interns.

9. Provide inservice training as needed.

10. Review special education records of children incoming or transferring into the district and report relevant findings to the staff as needed.

11. Provide individual and group counseling as needed.

12. Assist in crisis intervention, particularly with students who have special education eligibility.

13. Assist with Functional Assessments and the development of individual behavioral management plans.

14. Attend teamings, consultations, MDC and IEP meetings for students being served outside the district.

15. Substitute for absent staff members at MDC and IEP meetings.

16. Expand knowledge in areas related to the job role as School Psychologist, (including technology applications) by such means as reading current literature on students with special needs, attending professional conferences and workshops, and collaborating with other professionals doing similar work.

17. Perform such tasks and assume such responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.

Qualifications:
Certification and qualifications as set by the State Board of Education and School Code. School Psychologist endorsement required.
