Surface Mount Technician II

Your Skills

DETERMINES SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS by studying assembly instructions, drawings, specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, tools, and materials.

KEEPS EQUIPMENT OPERATIONAL by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's recommendations; reporting malfunctions to the maintenance department or manufacturer as required.

PREPARES MACHINES FOR PRODUCTION by performing set-up operations; programming; selecting correct profile to use for solder or glue operation; and loading parts

POSITIONS PARTS by following established processes and assembly methods, including the proper use of fixtures, automatic locators, and reading measurements.

ASSURES THE MANUFACTURE OF QUALITY SMT BOARDS by following predefined ESD and SMT practices; monitoring and correcting paste quality; monitoring and correcting machine parts placement; monitoring and adjusting solder machine as indicated by the quality of the solder connections.

VERIFIES SPECIFICATIONS by self-inspecting documentation and completed boards to PS8711PS.

RESOLVES ASSEMBLY PROBLEMS by gathering pertinent data, identifying and evaluating options, and recommending a course of action.

MAINTAINS SAFE AND CLEAN WORKING ENVIRONMENT by complying with procedures and rules.

MAINTAINS SUPPLIES INVENTORY by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies, placing orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies.

CONSERVES RESOURCES by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

DOCUMENTS ACTIONS by completing production, inventory, and quality forms accurately.

CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT by accomplishing department/company results as needed; maintaining effective communications with teammates, customers, and suppliers; accepting new challenges; acting as mentor to new/temporary employees.

Your Experience

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Hand tools, power tools, soldering irons, component formers, SMT equipment, carousels

PROCESS KNOWLEDGE: Interpreting drawings and assembly aides; SMT processes, hand soldering; safety procedures; Schindler quality; electro-static discharge control; inventory control; proper use and control of third tier documents; original document control.

EDUCATION: Initially - High school diploma or the equivalent. Additional machine specific training as required.

IMPACT OF RESULTS: If detected prior to shipment, errors increase the expense to the operation; and if undetected, result in an inferior product being delivered to the customer.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Carrying, Crouching, Feeling, Grasping, Manual Manipulation, Hearing, Kneeling, Lifting, Seeling (Close, Color, Depth), Sitting, Standing, Talking, Walking.

EXPOSURES: Chemicals, Moving Parts, Muscular Strain, Vision Strain.
