Maintenance Technician needed in Victoria, TX

 

The Maintenance Technician assists the maintenance supervisor in maintaining a safe and quality environment for the Daybreak Community Services homes and properties. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

* Assists supervisor in interior and exterior repairs, such as sheetrock, plumbing and  painting.
* Assists in maintaining the fleet of vehicles such as maintenance checks and 
* scheduled repairs.
* Assists with environmental checks for all homes.
* Maintains a yard program which equals or exceeds the neighborhood quality.
* Assists in all projects necessary to maintain the operations of Caregiver Inc.
* Maintains regular attendance and timeliness in duties.
* Maintains good work and personal ethics in dealing with co-workers and resident consumers.
* Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
* Must be available 24/7 during on-call schedule

 

Education and/or Experience:

* High school diploma or equivalent
* General Construction knowledge
* Minimum of 1 year maintenance experience 

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, manuals, and other company documents. Exhibits average oral communication skills. Position requires good customer service skills.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Understands the basic concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

 

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral communications or instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving unconventional variables in unusual situations.

Duties of this job are performing the following:

* Sitting is 20% of work time;
* Standing 50% of work time;
* Walking is 70% of work time;
* Bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, and kneeling is 60% of work time;
* Grasping and finger/hand manipulation is 40% of work time;
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
* Ability to operate computer, facsimile, copier, shredder.
* Safety hazards may exist if equipment is not used properly, if proper techniques/equipment is not used when lifting, if vehicles are not operated safely.
* Works when scheduled begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for work or when absent, observes policies on break and lunch periods; uses work time appropriately.
* A home setting, varying degrees of background noise, standard home ventilation and lighting, occasional temperature fluctuations are found in the work environment. 
* In a vehicle, subject to outside temperature changes and weather.
* Facilities are smoke-free; smoking areas are designated.
* Daily travel required within Area between office, group homes, and day habilitation facility. As needed.
