Estimator Duties and Responsibilities:

* Meets with clients to determine scope and requirements before preparing an estimate
* Communicates continually with clients throughout the bidding process
* Reviews data to determine the material, equipment, labor, and other requirements needed to prepare an itemized estimate
* Completes and submits to the Chief Estimator before the client's bid due date
* Meets weekly with Chief Estimator to update pending project estimates and provide useful feedback
* Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes. Such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, pricing vendors/subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness
* Creates a project manpower projection used to determine the project's production and overtime needs, as well as assisting with the company's overall manpower projections
* Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
* Interfaces with internal stakeholders to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates
* Utilizes a centralized database and internal processes to support cost estimating based on historical data
* Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine reasons for discrepancies
* Provides improvement recommendations to estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
* Conducts studies to identify cost trends and assist management with cost reduction and process improvement strategies
* Assists Business Development with marketing functions/events as needed
* Meets monthly with clients to gain a better understanding of the market forecast
* Attends industry activities, as needed, and represents the company in a professional manner
* Other duties as required

Required Skills:

* College degree in Building Construction preferred
* Construction estimating experience
* Strong analytical skills
* Excellent communication and people skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft, On Screen Takeoff & QuickBid
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal, technical, mathematical, diagrams, operating/maintenance instructions, and construction documents
* Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions
* Ability to resolve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
* Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to top management, clients, and public groups
* Proficient in reading blueprints

* Construction Estimating: 3 years (Required)
