* Actively participate in rotation activities, including: team meetings, patient care rounds, and other interdisciplinary meetings that occur on the services of their rotations.
* Assist in the education of pharmacy students on clinical clerkships.
* Develop and complete a residency project and present at required clinical meetings under the guidance and supervision of project preceptor.
* Make dose recommendations based on age, weight and clearance function
* Provide direct patient care by intervening as appropriate to improve prescribing, administration, and monitoring practices in the facility as related to medications.
* Present in-services to the medical, nursing, and pharmacy staffs under the supervision of preceptors.
* Screen medication orders for potential interactions with other medications, diet orders, disease state, or stated allergies.
* Provide Medication Therapy Management Services as defined in the Illinois Pharmacy Practice Act.

A postgraduate training position that allows the pharmacy resident to perform as a licensed practitioner but to train under the supervision of an experienced preceptor. The pharmacy resident participates in decentralized care to enhance general competencies in managing medication-use systems and supports optimal medication therapy outcomes for patients with a broad range of disease states.
